LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Mark Huizenga, R-Walker, issued the following statement on the police-involved shooting death of Patrick Lyoya in Grand Rapids:
“As a lifelong resident of West Michigan and a father with a son not much younger than Patrick, my prayers are with his family and our community coping with this shocking loss of life.
“My focus is on reaching out to leaders in our community, ensuring a transparent investigation, and supporting appropriate actions based on the evidence.
“Our entire community is hurting, and I join in the prayers for healing.”
