Sen. Mark Huizenga, R-Walker, welcomed former U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Thomas J. Nawrocki, who is also his father-in-law, to the state Capitol on Thursday as his special guest for the Michigan Senate's 29th Annual Memorial Day Service, which honored Michigan's fallen soldiers.

Sen. Mark Huizenga, R-Walker, announced Ryan Knight as his new chief of staff on Tuesday. Knight was born and raised in the 30th Senate District and is a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a degree in political science and public administration. Prior to joining Huizenga's office, Knight worked as a public policy field director for the Michigan Realtors, where he served as a liaison for local realtor associations throughout the state. He also previously served as campaign manager and policy advisor for current state Rep. Bryan Posthumus.

Winstrom was named as the 15th chief of police for the Grand Rapids Police Department in 2022 after serving in the Chicago Police Department for over 20 years in various patrol, tactical, investigative, and administrative positions.
