Sen. Huizenga applauds grant for $5.7M investment in Walker

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Mark Huizenga is applauding a recent announcement from the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) approving a grant to help support a $5.7 million business expansion in Walker that will create 50 jobs.

The MSF awarded Axis Automation a $500,000 Jobs Ready Michigan Program performance-based grant to expand its current operations in Walker.

“This is exciting news for the people of West Michigan and our entire state,” said Huizenga, R-Walker. “This project will create dozens of high-tech, advanced manufacturing jobs for area workers, boost the local economy and enhance Michigan’s leadership in automation and manufacturing. I applaud Axis Automation for their commitment to Walker and thank state and local officials for their work in making this opportunity a reality.”

Axis Automation, established in 2015 in Walker, is an automation solutions provider for manufacturers. Its mission is to support the adoption of automation solutions that empower people and enhance productivity. The Axis team conceptualizes, engineers, and builds high-performing, custom-made equipment specializing in robotics, assembly, joining, conveyance, and vision applications for a wide variety of industries.

Michigan was chosen for the project over a competing site in Illinois.
