LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Mark Huizenga applauded the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s approval of three West Michigan projects that will boost economic activity in the region and bring new residential and commercial space to the West Fulton corridor of Grand Rapids.
“It is great to see so much support coming to West Michigan,” said Huizenga, R-Walker. “These are the kinds of long-term investments in our communities that we should be making, and this round of projects will bring improvements that will benefit our area for years to come.”
Among the projects approved by the MEDC board and announced this week were projects in Coopersville, Grand Rapids and Cascade Charter Township:
The purpose of these incentives, which were strongly supported by Huizenga, is to strengthen the regional water system and support the expansion of fairlife’s production facility in Michigan. It will also secure an immediate investment of over $500 million and create 150 new jobs by fairlife in Ottawa County.
“These resources are designed to help position our state for economic development, create jobs and make Michigan competitive for large-scale developments,” Huizenga said. “This round of projects supports West Michigan businesses, brings new jobs to the area and works to address the housing shortage by making more units available.
“I strongly support these developments and await the benefits they will surely bring to West Michigan.”
